How Does it Work > Filter & Bag Maintenance

Filter Maintenance (E & DL Series)

We recommend regular maintenance of the filtration system, in order to ensure your central vacuum’s maximum performance.

Your Cyclo Vac central vacuum is equipped with two filters. An anti-clogging filter (thin fabric) stops larger particles, and a Cyclofiltre (thick fabric) catches the microscopic particles and is treated with Ultra-Fresh to prevent the growth of mold, fungus and bacteria. Both filters are washable in cold water (no bleach). Dry at low temperature.

1.    To remove the filters, first remove the dust receptacle.
2.    Then use the straps at the base of the filter to withdraw them. We recommend that you clean the anti-clogging filter (thin fabric) every time you empty the dust receptacle. You may either shake it out or wash it. The Cyclofiltre (thick fabric) should be cleaned after four anti-clogging filter cleanings, or approximately once a year.
3.    It is important that both filters be completely dry before they are reinstalled. They should be carefully installed in the support grooves on the filter frame to ensure adequate protection for the motor. Install the Cyclofiltre (thick fabric) first (and the anti-clogging filter (thin fabric) over it.

Before replacing the filters, inspect them for tears or punctures. Do not reinstall damaged filters.

Electrostatic Bag Maintenance (GS & GX Series)

Change the bag when the one in place is full. Frequency will depend on use of the unit. For the GX series, the integrated monitor will indicate when to change the bag. These indications are provided by an electronic timing board, only as a reference guide.

1.    To access the bag, unlatch the two clips and remove the dust receptacle.
2.    Remove the used bag and seal bag opening (adhesive seal provided on each bag). Discard used bag.
3.    Install the new bag, ensuring the tabs on the bag adaptor are aligned with the slots on the bag collar.
4.    Ensure adequate sealing by inserting bag as far as retention ring. Rotate bag 20° to ensure tabs on bag adaptor are no longer aligned with the slots in the bag collar.
5.    Replace dust receptacle and seal by latching both clips.

Use only genuine Cyclo Vac replacement bags. Failure to do so could void the warranty on your vacuum unit.

Disposable Bag & Filter Maintenance (GS110 model)

Change the bag when the one in place is full. Frequency will depend on use of the unit.

1.    To access bag, remove the power unit top cover.
5.    Replace top cover.

The disc-shaped filter, located between the dust bag and the motor, should be changed once for every three bags (45 hours of use), or more often as needed.

Use only genuine Cyclo Vac replacement bags. Failure to do so could void the warranty on your vacuum unit.
